I am a qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with HCPC (Health Care and Professions Council), with a wide range of skills and experience, I regularly complete personal development task, courses and supervision to keep up to date with current practises and improve my skills and knowledge base.

I have a ‘Basic’ DBS as per the legal requirements set out by the Disclosing and Barring Service – “If an individual will be offering their services on a purely self-employed/freelance basis…individuals are not permitted, under current legislation, to initiate the DBS checking process on themselves”. A ‘Basic’ level check is permitted where it is felt to be ‘advantageous’ when working with clients and demonstrates my commitment to safeguarding vulnerable people that I work with. There is no mandatory requirement for self-employed individuals to adopt this approach.

I am a member of the following professional bodies, RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapists), BAOT (British Association of Occupational Therapists), SI (sensory integration) network, RCOTSS-IP (Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section – Independent Practitioners). I am registered with HCPC, the Health Care Professions Council, which provides additional guidance for professional practise.

Therapy services are provided within individuals own home or in schools, they will be invoiced as follows:

  • for an assessment, half the cost is invoiced before the start of the assessment, and the other half once the assessment has been completed.
  • For intervention sessions, payment is required prior to the first session commences in full.
  • Invoices will be sent out prior to sessions commencing.
  • Payment for intervention; half costs is required prior to intervention package starting and the remainder before the final session in the block.
  • If no payment has been made prior to the first session, this will result in an additional charge (£25) for a missed session as intervention will not start until payment has been received.
  • Interventions sessions cancelled on the same day will incur a ½ the cost of the session rate to cover time lost.
  • Travel costs are charged after the first 10 miles and invoiced with assessment/intervention

All intervention costs include the face-to-face time, notes and preparation time (including emails, liaising, session prep time etc).

Any additional work required, such as progress summaries, discharge summaries, and attendance or feedback provided for meetings will be discussed in advance, and once agreed will be charged at the normal hourly rate.

      I DO NOT offer diagnosis of Autism / ADHD / Learning Disability/mental health diagnosis’ or other neurodevelopmental traits through the Sensory Connections intervention or assessment process. If I feel that in my professional opinion there are indications of the above, then this I will discuss this with the parent/adult and discuss possible next steps for the individual to follow up. Any mention of Autism / ADHD / Learning Disability or other neurodevelopmental traits in my reports is NOT a diagnosis and must not be treated as such.
